Italian football journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has made a huge claim with regard to Leicester City star Youri Tielemans’ future.

Most in the know and well-informed Foxes supporter are already resigned to the strong likelihood of Tielemans leaving King Power Stadium at the end of the season. The entire Blue Army will wish him well; along with appreciating and respecting what he has achieved with and for the club.

Nevertheless, a feeling of what could have been will linger over Filbert Way for quite a while. You see, if Leicester had managed to obtain just a couple of extra points in their previous two Premier League campaigns, they would have qualified for the Champions League in either term.

Opinions vary, but many believe the Belgium international would perhaps have stayed if that scenario was realised. To be perfectly honest, the midfielder hasn’t been as dominant or impressive of late. And that assessment especially goes for recent matches in 2021/22. In fact, the Belgian was even omitted from the previous LCFC starting line-up for the eventual loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday.

Yet a dream conclusion with Tielemans signing a five-year extension to his current contract appears futile. Now that Fabrizio Romano has spoken, the situation is inevitably a ‘here we go’.

"“Youri Tielemans has definitely decided not to sign a new deal with Leicester…”“…Youri Tielemans will have many [transfer] opportunities in the summer of 2022.”YouTube channel of Fabrizio Romano"

What is next for Youri Tielemans and Leicester City?

Now the correct manoeuvre feels as though it should be to extract as much profit as humanly possible from the sale of Tielemans. In the faithful’s minds, a switch to a foreign team would be preferable. They don’t want ‘starman’ doing damage against them on a regular domestic basis.

If you ask me, I think the footballing world is Tielemans’ oyster: he can almost go wherever he pleases. Optimum destinations are likely on offer to him; the Reds seem probable in a personnel necessity sense.
