There’s still a chance Tielemans will sign new Leicester contract
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has denied reports that star midfielder Youri Tielemans has rejected an offer to extend his Foxes contract.
A goal boosted Tielemans’ contemporary status with the east Midlands club on Sunday versus West Ham United. It is not that Leicester fans don’t rate or appreciate the Belgian anymore. No. The Blue Army’s majority are merely resigned to him departing very soon; and have been conflicted by Tielemans poor displays of late.
Obviously the former AS Monaco man has particularly high standards. That is why superpower sides such as Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool are connected with an interest. And world-class performances are tougher to replicate on a consistent basis.
With regard to a decline in quality, there is also the likelihood that these scenarios affect players’ mentality negatively. Another situation could be players protecting themselves from prospective injury as their agents have advanced agreements in place for big money moves.
Last week, Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano claimed Tielemans had declined to sign a new deal with LCFC. Furthermore, the guru for football fans implied that the 24-year-old will consider major offers from significant teams this summer.
However, it appears Romano is putting his presumably 100 per cent record on the line here, as one of the only people who may be privy to inside information has spoken on the matter.
According BBC Sport, who spoke to Rodgers following the final whistle versus West Ham, Tielemans has not rejected a fresh deal. In addition, the boss states that it is within the realm of possibility that the ‘starman’ could re-sign.
"“Till the last day he’s here whether that’s at the end of the contract or summer or beyond that, he will always give his best…”Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool Echo"
Will Youri Tielemans remain at Leicester City beyond 2022?
Essentially the most prudent move for the Foxes would be to offload their asset in the upcoming preseason. Tielemans’ head is turned by the biggest outfits, in Foxes of Leicester’s view. Therefore a sale becomes necessity, so not to risk losing him for zero in 2023.
