If Leicester want to win the tie – and the cup as a whole – then they’ll need their best team available, something that hasn’t been possible so far in a season plagued by injuries. By looking at Brendan Rodgers’ quotes from the West Ham 2-2 draw, as well as his preview of the Liverpool fixture last week, we’ve been able to piece together the latest on the shape of the squad.

James Justin

The injury that will worry most fans, Justin pulled up with a hamstring injury, only half an hour into the game against West Ham. The versatile full-back was making only his 5th appearance for Leicester after a long recovery from an ACL injury; missing almost a year of football.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury about Justin’s injury, Rodgers had this to say:

"“He felt it tight, he’s not sure if he’s pulled it […] It was obviously going to restrict him. We’ll just have to see what the scan says on that.”"

Whilst fans will be hoping it was only a tight hamstring, Rodgers has revealed that it was a pulled one; an injury that will see him miss a couple of weeks in a crucial period for the Foxes.

Wesley Fofana

A major boost for Rodgers, Wesley Fofana is closing in on a miraculous return from a horrific ankle injury he suffered in a pre-season friendly in August. Initially feared to be out for the season, Fofana’s mental strength and determination was soon clear as he documented his recovery on his Instagram feed.

This week was a big step for the 21-year-old centre back, as he returns to full training on Friday. Anyone hoping for an immediate return should temper their expectations, as it is almost certain that Fofana won’t play a part on Thursday, however his return is now imminent. He will need a few weeks to get back to match-fitness, but his return is imminent.
