Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers took the rather unique step of confirming business this summer, as the Foxes target Chelsea’s Levi Colwill for a summer transfer.

Defenders are required on Filbert Way – as long as they are of a higher standard and more confident that the dross Leicester signed from Southampton. I can hear you laughing Saints supporters, and we will invoke the ‘9-0’ as a shield as we curse the signings.

Though LCFC still get much of their dealings right in the transfer market: Patson Daka is a fine example. And summer 2022 is crucial in the recruitment process for the Foxes as the team’s refresh is desperately, urgently requisite. Rodgers stated that four-five of his starting personnel may be replaced. Or must, at least, prove themselves worthy of remaining when the current campaign expires.

One centre-back – an area of necessity for improvement – linked with the King Power club at the moment is Tottenham Hotspur’s Cameron Carter-Vickers. Carter-Vickers is on loan at Celtic and is now making his name at age-24.

Meanwhile, the east Midlanders are plotting a move for 19 year old Levi Colwill of Chelsea, who is temporarily at Huddersfield Town. Left-footed centre-halves who occasionally fill in at left-back – akin to the superb Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake at Manchester City – are much coveted at present. The in-form Colwill is certainly one to watch for the Blue Army.

James Maddison netted a mouthwatering brace in Denmark versus Randers in the week. One free-kick delicately and ultra-accurately placed into the side of the net away from the goalkeeper. Along with another curling strike from open play which bent into the opposite corner to the ‘keeper’s left.

The talented midfielder must consistently perform: as mentioned by Foxes of Leicester contributor Dominic Wells, ‘a team that contains Maddison is dependent on him’. Essentially, the England international is a luxury player – but one who is devastating if deployed correctly and on top of his game.

However, ‘Madders’ admitted that his first half display in the Uefa Europa Conference League was unacceptable, saying this:

Hot. Toughest time of Harry Kane's career was at LCFC. light

"“I was really happy with the two goals; I was rubbish in the first half, to be honest.“…So I felt like I had to make up for it in the second half, which I did with two nice goals.”Leicester Mercury"
