Fan favourite Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana has signed a new deal with the club. Here is what you have to know and what to expect.

After only one full season, the star Frenchman suffered an irritatingly long injury which has kept the defender out of the side up until now. The player has been in full team contact training since February 14, so we should expect to see him play again soon.

However, with the coveted centre-back looking set to return, the King Power side shall now keep the brilliant defender tied down for even longer than his current deal.

The French U23 international has been in talks with the Foxes for several weeks, with the player joining others who have agreed improved contracts in recent weeks. Brendan Rodgers will be thrilled to tie down one of his best young players for a long time, giving the side a much needed core of energy and technique. With more quality coming through the ranks, the East Midlands club must retain what they have.

With a deal lasting until 2027, the star defender will be one of those who will develop with the side and improve the side massively over the coming seasons. If Fofana were to stay for a prolonged period, a player of his passion is captaincy material alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Here is our generational Leicester City team: Luke Thomas, Wesley Fofana, Ben Nelson, James Justin, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Wanya Marcal-Madivadua, Will Alves, Tawanda Maswanhise, Harvey Barnes, and of course Patson Daka.

Many of these players have new contracts either already or in the pipe line, it would be great to see this team going forward, and no doubt we will see some of the more youthful athletes in the domestic cups in seasons to come. Are you happy to see Fofana in talks, and which Foxes do you think will be critical to the next generation at LCFC?
