Leicester City boss, Brendan Rodgers has compared Jamie Vardy to Atletico Madrid striker, Luis Suarez. Rodgers previously managed the Uruguayan star in his time at Anfield, before Suarez departed for Barcelona.

The Northern Irishman has heaped praise on Vardy and highlighted a number of similarities between the pair.

"“He’s irreplaceable. There isn’t another Jamie Vardy. He’s like Luis Suarez. They are two or three steps ahead of other people.“He brings a devilment to the game. He’s massive for us. I felt the same way with Suarez at Liverpool. The minute he walks out of the tunnel opposition supporters probably know a bit of what’s coming.”Brendan Rodgers, via Express"

Both strikers have aged like fine wine, with Vardy continuing to assert his dominance in the Premier League, as well as continuing to stake his claim as one of Leicester’s greatest ever strikers. While Suarez has gone from strength-to-strength, winning the Spanish League in his first season with Atletico Madrid.

The Leicester City striker put in a scintillating performance off the bench in his return from injury against Burnley. The Foxes striker assisted a brilliant James Maddison goal to break the deadlock, before putting the game to bed with a goal himself.

The Sheffield-born striker has continued to prove that age is just a number as he notched up his 94th Premier League goal since turning 30, surpassing Ian Wright’s record of 93.

"“Jamie has an in-built brain for the game. He’s 35 and yet he’s still got the pace and the hunger.“It’s only when he is done and dusted that he will be truly appreciated. His legacy here will live on. He’s a huge influence. He’s one of the Premier League’s greatest ever strikers.”Brendan Rodgers"

Vardy has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season in a campaign that has been impacted by injury. After spending two months on the side lines, Leicester City’s number nine picked up an injury in just his second game after returning.

The Foxes will be forced to play without their talismanic striker for up to a month, with Rodgers revealing that Vardy injured his knee in their 1-0 over Leeds United. The injury has put a spanner in the works for LCFC, after months of injuries and poor form, the last week has seen the Blue Army feel hopeful about the prospect of the remainder of the season.

The East Midlands side will instead have to use either Patson Daka or Kelechi Iheanacho, in the short-term while Rodgers attempts to reinvigorate the campaign. Both are great strikers in their own right, with the Zambian international hitting the ground running in his first campaign with LCFC, most notably scoring four goals in one game in the Europa League.

While Iheanacho hasn’t been given the game time to repeat his feats of last season where he finished as Leicester City’s top goal scorer, he has still made an impact in his limited opportunities, with five goals and nine assists to date.
