Is Daniel Iversen the appropriate successor to Schmeichel’s throne?

The competition

Iversen might be desired by supporters of both Leicester and Preston North End, but he is not alone in the race to become the Great Dane’s replacement in the East Midlands. Rodgers has plenty of options.

In the senior side, Welsh international Ward has proven himself time and time again to have better distribution, better sweeping characteristics, and better acrobatics than our Danish No. 1. The goalie is more flexible and so makes up a little for his lack of positional excellence and control.

Nevertheless, Ward as improved immeasurably while under the tutorship of Rodgers and under the wings of Schmeichel. He is reliable, consistent, but not flashy or impressive, and nor does he make these startling saves. A great shot will beat the international ‘keeper, an average attempt will likely not.

In the youth side, Jakub Stolarczyk and Brad young are continuing their development as players. Both are showing great positional awareness and danger sense, though I would contend Young has better command and control where Stolarczyk is a better shot stopper.

Can Daniel Iversen replace Kasper Schmeichel?

The longevity of Leicester City FC requires a flexible, positionally excellent, command and control oriented, as well as more involved goalkeeper.
