According to a report and a photograph on Twitter, Leicester City fans will initially see beloved late chairman Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s statue on a huge match night. That is the UEFA Europa Conference League clash versus PSV Eindhoven.

What a moment this shall be for every Foxes fan around the world. An everlasting one. Some of us lucky Blue Army members will even get to stand near the new monument to the great man and have our pictures taken.

Work apparently began in February on the statue of Khun Vichai, following plans being created in 2020. Not only did ‘The Boss’, as he was known, make LCFC into a viable top six challenging Premier League outfit, the Thai business was also a generous philanthropist. In fact the local and wider Leicestershire community benefitted.

There is already a beautiful, tranquil and respected remembrance garden in Khun Vichai’s name, as well as the people who tragically lost their lives alongside him. In April there will be a more informal pilgrimage point unveiled for the Foxes faithful – a lifelike sculpture. The PSV fixture is likely to be emotionally charged before, during and after the contest.

A chance at glory for some international Leicester City players and suffering for other Foxes

As you will know, the World Cup in Qatar is due to begin in November, running until December 2022. And African playoffs were completed this week. Daniel Amartey’s Ghana defeated Nigeria, ending their opponents’ chances at entering the illustrious national tournament. Whilst Amartey’s team simultaneously booked their place in the 22nd edition.

This means neither Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho nor Ademola Lookman will see action at the competition later this year. This will be the initial time since 2006 that the Super Eagles haven’t been involved. Meanwhile, Papy Mendy’s African Cup of Nations title holders Senegal were triumphant over Egypt, thanks to penalties. Therefore the cult defensive-minded midfielder should be in Doha, too.
