Leicester City defender Luke Thomas has been injured while the Foxes have made an enquiry for EPL player Mathias Normann. Here is what you should know.

The Premier League story of the King Power side is incomplete without injuries, wild transfer speculation and enquiries being made for relegation favourites. It is part of the fabric of the game for us supporters, and the recent news is no different.

Just as Brendan Rodgers’ team were getting a semblance of a fit side collated, they once again suffer another defensive injury to a first team player. Luckily, Timothy Castagne, Ricardo Pereira, and James Justin are returning.

The young English left-back Thomas has been a constant for Leicester. However, the player has picked up an injury before England U21’s were scheduled to face Albania. There is no news on the severity of the injury or how long the left-back will be out.

Therefore, we will likely see a different face at the left of defence when the King Power club face Manchester United. Of course, there is only one good option – Castagne! The Belgian fullback could follow the role adopted by James Justin and play more as an inverted fullback, drifting into midfield and peppering the opposition net with long range shots.

Leicester City transfer rumour

Meanwhile, it has been reported the Foxes had enquired for defensive midfielder Normann in January, as it was believed either Papy Mendy or Hamza Choudhury could be leaving the squad. At least one of those two is leaving in the summer.

Hence, should one of those leave, a direct replacement – experience, quality rotation option – will be required. The player is currently on loan at Norwich City. That is certainly a good place for defensive experience at the moment.

The Norwegian would not be an upgrade on Mendy, but would certainly be happier at the club. Further, he would form one part of the gaffer’s plan for the summer window: freshen the team with fresh faces.

Mendy and Choudhury are only two of the at-risk residents, with more attack minded talent being teed up for midfield, and better centre-backs a necessity. Hopefully, this does not involve any move for Thomas.
