Following the fairly entertaining 1-1 Europa Conference League draw at King Power Stadium between Leicester City and Roma, Jose Mourinho hilariously accuses Brendan Rodgers of crying over a gift.

At the time when the Foxes were drawn against Mourinho and the Romans, you just knew there would be drama. Though the Portuguese is occasionally a calmer, more tranquil person these days, he hardly omits a zenic disposition. Touchline bustups and outbursts are still noticeable.

Although, with age, temperamental people mellow; I myself am a prime example, and can attest to the transition. Yet it is best to keep a competitive streak. And that statement is especially relevant in elite sport, naturally.

We also see a very delicate and thoughtful side to the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur gaffer in contemporary times. One instance of respect emerged from Mourinho on Thursday prior to the stalemate at King Power Stadium in the first leg of the UECL clash. He laid a wreath at the statue of beloved late LCFC chairman Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha on Filbert Way. The Blue Army appreciated that gesture.

Before the match, Rodgers’ personal assistant took instruction to purchase a bottle of wine for their boss’s counterpart as a gesture. But not just any bottle: the best available from Portugal in this country. There was only one to even source, which the PA duly did.

You see, the ex-Blues manager and the Northern Irishman have a previous relationship. They were both part of the Pensioners organisations 20 years ago. While Mourinho was at the helm, Rodgers was the head youth coach.

Mourinho was so pleased with the gift that he interrupted a ‘BR’ interview post-match to exclaim his delight. The 59-year-old hilariously continued to mention the present in his own press conference later on the same day:
