This week, a particularly credible source with regards to Midlands football transfer business has ruled out Leicester City signing Brighton’s Robert Sanchez. This came after the same journalist reported that the Foxes were interested in the goalkeeper.

Leicester have now managed to turn their form around. Unfortunately the transition transpired at the wrong end of the season. Though the uptick required matches versus two relegated teams and a sanctioned club. Nevertheless, after defeating Norwich City along with Watford, before drawing with Chelsea, Brendan Rodgers now confirms that 2021/22 has been a relatively successful campaign.

I can see where Rodgers is coming from with regard to possibly finishing eighth in the Premier League, as well as a European semifinal. Yet, numerous fans, pundits and probably writers consider the term partially regressive for the East Midlands side.

One negative element that truly derailed the season and caused the most problems was a completely inability to defend from set-pieces, specifically corners. Now, all blame cannot be laid at one door, as many centrebacks including the most experienced have struggled.

Although, Kasper Schmeichel is not confident in coming more than six yards away from his goal-line to catch or punch the ball. This unsatisfactory play causes as many conceded goals as unacceptable defending. There is also a distribution issue with the great shot-stopper.

Additionally, there are rumours that the 35-year-old could leave the King Power outfit; furthermore, he also said that he would like to play in the Champions League again. According to The Telegraph, the uncertainty triggered interest in Sanchez as a potential successor.

However, the Seagulls star is valued at £50million by his club, and Leicester are exceeding unlikely to pay that amount. In fact, reliable source John Percy says there is no chance of a deal.
