Leicester City will round off the 2021/22 season with a home clash against Southampton. After what has been a campaign plagued by inconsistency, the Foxes can still secure an 8th placed finish with victory over the Saints. Given the circumstances, this would recover a modicum of respectability for the team. FOL bring the predicted team news from both sides.

Injuries

Wilfried Ndidi and Ryan Bertrand both remain out of action for Leicester City. Additionally, Youri Tielemans and James Justin both missed the game against Chelsea. However, Brendan Rodgers confirmed both are likely to be fit for the season finale. Otherwise, there is no additional injury news to report which makes a welcome change for Leicester City fans.

Southampton on the other hand have three injury absentees. These are Tino Livramento who suffered an unfortunate long-term ACL injury as well as Romain Perraud and Fraser Forster. With neither side having a huge amount to play for, it remains to be seen how much each team rotates.

Leicester City predicted starting XI

Leicester City will likely continue to set up in Brendan Rodgers’ preferred 4-3-3 and will be mostly made up of players who are part of Rodgers’ planned rebuild. The team will likely be as follows; Kasper Schmeichel remains in goal despite the uncertainty around his future. The back four will consist of Timothy Castagne, Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira.

The middle of the team will be made up of Nampalys Mendy, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Youri Tielemans. The latter may well be playing his final game and deserves a rousing ovation despite his indifferent form this campaign. Harvey Barnes will probably get the nod on the left with the fantastic James Maddison continuing to play as a ‘false right winger’. Leading the line, Jamie Vardy will look to add to his goal tally of 14.
