Kasper Schmeichel makes decision on future amid transfer rumours
Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has seemingly made a decision on his Foxes future. This update emerges amid transfer rumours concerning his status with the East Midlands club. And while some supporters call for him to be replaced by a new goalkeeper with more modern successor.
The 2021/22 season is at an end for Leicester, following a return to the roller coaster years of yesteryear. Whilst a modicum of stability was maintained by manager Brendan Rodgers in the undoubtedly awkward scenarios of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with an unparalleled injury crisis at LCFC.
Nevertheless, no progress was made. Which is the first time under Rodgers that the sentiment can truly be attested. In fact, the team has technically gone backwards after two impressive and fruitful campaigns under the Northern Irishman’s tutelage.
Though, Rodgers argues so good were his initial couple of years, that expectations are now difficult to be met. A fine and understandable, if invented, paradox from the ever-inventive and media-shrewd former Liverpool boss.
However, the cunning and usually relatively successful gaffer is undertaking a squad rebuild during this summer’s transfer window. He shall then be unavoidably and justly judged if there are negative developments originating from said alterations next term. If the outcome is terrible – Rodgers will be removed as leader on Filbert Way. Should LCFC be prosperous next season – Rodgers will rightly retain his throne.

Speculation had also begun on the iconic Leicester stopper; partly of his own making, due to an interview divulging longing for Champions League football. Understandably. Yet some of the Blue Army, including myself, wouldn’t be too upset to see a fresh ‘keeper with a modern skill set took over. I say this with all due respect etcetera.
Although, retaining such a competent goalie at King Power Stadium might be the favourable eventuality. Following the final victory versus Southampton, Schmeichel took to Instagram to assure the faithful that there are “better things” to come for Leicester next season. A significant hint on his immediate future.
