Leicester City have been heavily linked to Belgian wonderkid Charles de Ketelaere. New details have emerged following a battle with Italian giants AC Milan.

First though, a recap of this summer transfer window thus far: nothing. Well, that is to say the King Power club have been rather lethargic within the moment, speculation linking ourselves to players but never transpiring into something tangible – a bid.

Brendan Rodgers insists the Foxes require a healthy shake up and refreshment of the team with a few faces out and a few faces in. Additionally, we can be certain the East Midlands side have identified a right-winger, a midfielder (especially should Youri Tielemans depart), and a defender as the three priority areas.

Leicester City could outbid giants

Within the midfield, by far the most progressed story is that of Leicester in for Ketelaere. The Belgian attacking-midfielder/striker is coming off of a promising and exciting Juliper Pro League campaign with Club Brugge.

It has been reported that the Foxes are in competition with Italian club AC Milan as they look to capture another impressive attacking talent. However, Rodgers wants this Belgian desperately. In a similar situation to the Wesley Fofana scenario, the club are prepared to spend big.

It is seldom we get into bidding wars or overspend. Nevertheless, with such a unique player available and still being in pole position, this could be another coup for the biggest club in the East Midlands.

I have only one opinion on this transfer: get this player now. The sooner the Belgian starlet is in the Premier League, the quicker their transfer value shall climb. Further, this talent cannot be overlooked.

A bid of over €35m will be needed to sign the player. However, his 21/22 stats illustrate everything you need to know: 18 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, playing over 4,000 minutes, and performing from several positions.

Leicester need a player of this calibre to compete with James Maddison and provide that versatility to alter system on the fly. I would even recommend selling either Ayoze Perez or Dennis Praet to help fund the deal, though the other should be kept. Preferably the other Belgian AM is retained.
