Leicester’s keep, loan and sell list for this transfer window
It has been quite a peculiar start to the transfer window for Leicester City, as it seems as though the club is without much viable funds to make any dent into the transfer market. Therefore, I have delved into where I think the club could free up some funds, while looking at where perhaps the East Midlands side should not move on from some players which fans may want to see the back of.
Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel, Keep:
Categorically keep! There is much chatter and rumour about a potential move away for the 35-year-old Leicester City captain, with many fans believing its time to move on from the Dane. They highlight the command of his area and his sub-par distribution as the two main components for this opinion.
While both may objectively be the case, recency bias is rife throughout sports and people are very quick to judge based off what they have just seen, but I would quickly remind you how vital this man was to both our major domestic honours – the Premier League and F.A Cup – as his shot stopping ability is still up there with the best in Europe.
Although Schmeichel’s lack of a command in his area may have contributed to LCFC’s frankly shocking corner defensive record last season, it very clear that the lack of physical and assertive presence when defending set pieces was another major factor. In addition, a player and leader who has served the club so marvellously, in my eyes, has earned the right to keep his place and role in the club.
