A scenario that sees Wesley Fofana remaining at Leicester City is far more likely now, as an interested club has been deterred from bidding.

Keeping Fofana was vital to Leicester’s upcoming season. As pointed out to me by many, many Blue Army members on Twitter, the Frenchman is effectively priceless to the Foxes.

This retort arose due to me questioning LCFC support about the price they would hypothetically accept for the 21-year-old. There wasn’t a valuation for most. But, with my press like a Jurgen Klopp attack force, I persevered with the query. This lead to me and others agreeing on an approximate £100million plus fee.

With a tenth of a billion prospectively profited – yeah, putting it that way brings huge realisation – or even more, LCFC could invest in some amazing footballers. Just speaking about Fofana in this light clearly illuminates just how rated he is, along with how much fans of the East Midlands side value their defender.

When Express reported that LCFC ownership might set a lower fee of under £70m for their asset, King Power supporters were obviously not best pleased. I mean, if the now ‘found out’ Harry Maguire was worth £80m, surely Fofana is worth a higher amount.

Certainly extracting a bigger payment than Maguire’s is possible. If any club can design that eventuality, it is the tough negotiating Foxes. Therefore £68m or whatever the apparent quotation was, simply isn’t fair or enough to deter powerhouse outfits such as Chelsea.

However, journalist Ben Jacobs claims both the Blues and Manchester United – another party connected with targeting the centreback – are prioritising other players. Furthermore, Jacobs suggests Leicester are in full control as Fofana recently signed a new five-year deal. It is likely, says the reporter, that the CB shall remain in Leicestershire for 2022/23.
