Inter Milan target Leicester player enthused by UCL prospect
There is reported interest from Inter Milan in a Leicester City defender. Apparently the prospect of Champions League football has enthused Caglar Soyuncu.
Let’s not beat around the bush, Soyuncu’s reputation on Filbert Way has plummeted in the last couple of years. Prior to that, the Turkey international was pretty much as impressive as his predecessor Harry Maguire.
Maguire was such a standout performer for the Foxes and England that he managed to make Manchester United mistakenly pay £80million for him. So, basically, the Blue Army took to Soyuncu tremendously during his second season with LCFC as he solidified his starting XI spot.
That’s why Sport Witness‘ story suggesting the former Freiburg centreback lost his place only towards the end of the previous season is incorrect. If Wesley Fofana were not injured in preseason 2021/22, Soyuncu would have been on the bench with Evans partnering the Frenchman.
The same outlet also states Inter Milan’s interest in the 26-year-old, and that he is interested in pursuing the move. Although, the Italians have a self-imposed stipulation before potentially bidding:
"Inter ‘need to sell (Milan) Škriniar’, at which point the Serie A will turn their attention to other players on the transfer market."
A look ahead to first 2022/23 Leicester City friendly
In 10 short days, we are going to be blessed with Leicester City action once again. Thank goodness. As I’ve said before, every one of the Foxes of Leicester team are longing for the return of the side to the field of play. Thankfully the King Power outfit meet East Midlands rivals Notts County for a practice match on June 9 at Leicester’s training ground.
Over the years the Premier League side have probably played the National League club on more occasions than you’d imagined. Including their initial meeting in 1894, the pair have clashed on 47 occasions. Leicester have won 21 of those fixtures.
This past Wednesday, FoL detailed the Leicester squad members already being put through their paces at Seagrave. Among the stars are Jamie Vardy, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Ricardo Pereira.
