Leicester make €8million offer for experienced midfielder
According to Sara Menai, who reported to Owynn Palmer-Atkin of BBC Sports, Leicester City has reportedly made an €8million offer for experienced French midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud of Rennes.
The central midfielder scored 12 goals while assisting 16 goals throughout his competitions last season. Bourigeaud can provide a lot to Leicester’s midfield and it would be for quite the bargain.
Bourigeaud is a Swiss Army knife. He mainly plays as a central midfielder. However, the 28-year-old is able to play as a winger, attacking midfielder, or defensive midfielder. The Frenchman can place a perfect cross in the box and can finish a beautiful shot from anywhere on the pitch. Additionally, the 28-year-old is also great at set-pieces.
All of these skills make it easy to play Bourigeaud anywhere that’s needed. If the Foxes were unlucky to have another injury-filled season like last season, having a player like Bourigeaud would be massive.
A player with so many skills yet LCFC can get him for just €8 million. Transfermarkt has Bourigeaud valued at €19.3 million. So not only would Brendan Rodgers and his squad get a fantastic player, they would get a fantastic player for a fantastic price. His lower transfer value is due to his contract expiring next summer. With Stade Rennais wanting to get some money instead of no money, they’ll be willing to sell him for a lower price.
It is interesting wondering how Brendan Rodgers will implement Bourigeaud into the squad. his preferred position is at central midfield. Yet, Leicester’s midfield already includes James Maddison, KDH, Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, and Boubakary Soumare. However, the winger position is a lot more depleted.
Outside of Harvey Barnes, the foxes aren’t providing much out at the wing. Ademola Lookman hasn’t been signed from loan and that leaves an opening out at the wing. A wing duo of Barnes and Bourigeaud would be great and would be an upgrade from last season.
