Having made the switch from Serie A for a full package of £21.5million, Leicester will want back at least what they paid for Castagne and a bit more on top, so a sale price of anywhere between £25million and £30million is far from unreasonable. The full-back has been largely a success since arriving at the King Power, providing a healthy competition for places on both defensive flanks, but as with most Foxes defenders, injuries have prevented him from maximising his capabilities.

In an ordinary pre-season, James Maddison would be firmly locked in the Must not sell under any circumstances’ category, particularly after the strong end to the previous campaign the No.10 had. Although, this is no ordinary pre-season, and there might come a point where Brendan Rodgers becomes desperate to blood some new faces in at the Seagrave training facility.

After Arsenal’s interest in the attacking midfielder this time last year, another North London club appears to be monitoring Maddison’s situation closely – this time it’s Tottenham Hotspur. It’s no wonder the Lilywhites are sniffing around the England outcast, who provided 30 goals and assists in 52 appearances last campaign, as he has all the attributes to fit perfectly into the Antonio Conte mould.
