Leicester City could be looking to make some transfer moves this summer finally. AS Monaco winger Sofiane Diop has been identified as the foxes leading target after Leicester officials were at Monaco’s most recent game; a 2-1 victory over Strasbourg. The 22-year-old bagged the game-winner in the 53rd minute.

Reports of LCFC being interested in Diop first came out a little over a month ago. Leicester had a boost of interest after Monaco announced the signing of Swiss striker Breel Embolo. With Monaco having Wissam Ben Yedder, Kevin Volland, Takumi Minamino, and more attacking options, it was suggested they may be willing to let go of an attacker.

Diop’s rumored transfer fee is around £10.5Million. But, if Leicester isn’t interested in paying the fee, a potential swap fee could happen. Boubakary Soumare has been on Monaco’s interest list since the start of the summer. With Soumare having an underwhelming season with the team, he could be swapped for the promising winger.

The French youngster first started making appearances for Monaco when he was just 18 years old. He made 13 appearances for the team that season. Before he started getting consistent playing time at 20 years old, he spent a season out on loan at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard. With 76 appearances for Monaco, Diop has managed to score 14 goals and assist on five.

Leicester City’s wing options are really depleted. With Harvey Barnes also being out for a couple of weeks, it’s looking grim. The Foxes had to run a 5-3-1-1 formation since they were so limited. A player like Diop is exactly what Brendan Rodgers and the squad need. Diop is versatile and can play either left or right wing. At just the age of 22, he’s already so talented on the ball. He can dribble, pass, and shoot. A young winger duo of Barnes and Diop would be lethal.
