Leicester City fans will be undoubtedly delighted as contract talks open for one of the team’s stars. Hopefully James Maddison will put pen to paper as soon as possible.

A visit from Southampton is next up for the Foxes on Saturday. Neither of the two sides made ideal starts to their respective campaigns. In fact, their form is almost identical: LCFC have merely scored one more, with four finishes. Which means Foxes of Leicester expect goals this weekend due to leaky defences and plenty already going in during the first couple of outings.

Unfortunately for the Blue Army, boss Brendan Rodgers admitted that no incoming transfers are on the horizon, presently. This announcement occurred whilst Rodgers conducted his pre-match presser.

And high profile players could well still leave the east Midlanders, if reports are to be believed. On Friday, the very credible Rob Tanner of The Athletic broke the news that Wesley Fofana has requested to be ‘left out’ of the Foxes matchday squad to play the Saints.

If true, this effective refusal to feature for the Foxes shall completely ruin Fofana’s excellent reputation and relationship with Leicester’s fan base. In fact, the Frenchman is – or was – a definite fan favourite at King Power Stadium. FoL are getting Riyad Mahrez vibes – and not the good ones!

Some positive news for Leicester City finally

But one update will encourage staff, players and support: the club have opened contract negotiations with exquisite playmaker James Maddison. Director of football, Jon Rudkin, has apparently already spoken with representatives of the England international. FoL take comfort in that fact that the club aim to secure the finest athletes among the group for the foreseeable future.

Foxes fans shall be hoping for a long agreement, which could keep the undeniably superb talent on Filbert Way for many more seasons. About 10 years would do the trick, ‘Madders’!
