Leicester City are looking for replacements as Wesley Fofana nears towards the exit door to complete his move to Chelsea. But which players may be incoming?

The Foxes have had a rough start to the season. Vibes surrounding the club have been very negative for some time now. With zero new signings and just a single point from their first four matches, eyebrows are raising towards manager Brendan Rodgers, as well as the club hierarchy. Rodgers had never lost three games in a row before yesterday, when his team failed to beat or draw with Chelsea; who essentially played three-quarters of the match a man down.

It is very clear that the east Midlands club needs to bring in some fresh faces if they want to progress in the near future. With Fofana departing, it adds onto the already existing crisis because he was a crucial player for the team. Since the French International secured his ‘dream move’, LCFC is already looking for replacements.

According to Daily Mail, Manuel Akanji of Borussia Dortmund is someone whom the Foxes might be looking at. The Swiss International appeared in 26  matches for Dortmund last season, and is now attracting interests from all around the world.

However, some experts claim that Akanji might be past his best days. Edin Tzeric’s team has been struggling in defence lately, and I guess it is better to look at some other options. Leicester City are already paying hefty wages to players who are mostly sitting on the substitute’s bench and henceforth, cannot afford to add more of this ‘deadwood’.

The other name that has come to the light is that of Abdou Diallo who is at Paris Saint-Germain. Many reports suggest that Rodgers’ staff have been monitoring the player since 2020, and can now make a move for Diallo. Due to lack of game time, the Senegalese international might be interested in a move to King Power Stadium. But he also has interest from several Italian outfits, including the mighty AC Milan.

It is essential that the club finds a replacement which is a similar to the profile of the player they are imminently losing. Both targets mentioned above are not similar to the former Saint-Etienne man, in my opinion. LCFC require an aggressive and fast centreback who is athletic, calm and confident on the ball. My priority would be Maxence Lacroix from Wolfsburg FC: he is rapid and very similar to what we have lost.
