Changes to Leicester City XI expected for Brighton fixture
By Ethan Henson
Despite sitting rock bottom of the Premier League table, Leicester City can climb out of the relegation zone with victory away at Brighton and Hove Albion this afternoon. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping his men can bounce back from a severely underwhelming performance in defeat to Manchester United on Thursday, which saw Wilfred Ndidi deployed and centre-back and Luke Thomas replacing Timothy Castagne.
The involvement of the Foxes’ most competent defensive midfielder as a centre-half spoke volumes about Caglar Soyuncu’s place in the hierarchy, with Brendan Rodgers admitting the Turkish defender has been nowhere near the level to compete so far this season. With Daniel Amartey still out injured, Ndidi is expected to occupy the position alongside Jonny Evans once more, although new recruit Wout Faes will be hoping to come straight into the team.
One positive note for Foxes fans from Thursday’s disappointing defeat was the the Nigerian wasn’t particularly missed in his anchorman berth, as Boubakary Soumare put in a strong performance. The Frenchman’s inclusion in Rodgers’ plans has fluctuated massively, but after the manager performed a transfer window u-turn and decided he should stay, Soumare is likely to be involved a lot more than last season, particularly if he maintains this level of performance.
