Leicester City’s chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha is now considering Brendan Rodgers’ future. Here is an update on the coach’s rough patch.

Six games played, one point gained, rock bottom of the Premier League. The message I choose to drill into your head, the utter abysmal performance of a team which won the FA Cup not long ago and had two top five finishes. Even in our worst season under Rodgers, the Foxes finished eighth.

The fall is immeasurable and frankly unacceptable. As such, it is no surprise so many have turned their attention towards a blame game: should King Power have signed more players, when would LCFC get their set piece coach, or even the future of head coach Rodgers.

Need I remind readers of one last startling statistic. Across all six games played, Leicester created 5.03 in expected goals and conceded 10.76 in xG against. The Foxes are actually lucky to an extent: they scored three more than expected although their atrocious defending has conceded five more than expected. Clearly, the system is not working.

Leicester City coach admits concerns

The Northern Irish gaffer has been a brilliant coach for the King Power side for a long time. Despite a rough 2021-22 campaign with incessant injuries, the manager has been backed. That is, up until now.

"“I will fight to my very last breath to stay here and make the team the best we can with what we have. It’s the longest I’ve been at a club and I love being here”Brendan Rodgers, via FanSided affiliate 90 Min"

The Foxes know that this is probably the worst situation the team has been in, with one of the better sides they have collated in recent memory. Rodgers has recognised he is now having to fight to keep the job, fight to stay even longer. It would be nice to see a passionate fight on the pitch too though.

"“[This start is] definitely the most challenging period I’ve had as a manager but the idea is to get through it… I am not daft…it has not been a great start at all”"

Honesty is the first step in correcting issues. Let supporters not forget this is the same head coach who has blamed transfer activity and named individual players as being ‘nowhere near the level’. Kuhn Top will not forget that either.

For now, Rodgers has the backing of the board and a new head of recruitment has been employed. Hopefully this means a strong January. However, Rodgers has a lot of work to do in the meantime if he is to keep his job.
