Leicester EPL title winner makes unrealistic Rodgers claim
Former Leicester City defender and Premier League champion Danny Simpson has made an unrealistic claim about Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers after six losses in seven English top-flight matches.
Dwelling on Leicester’s unavoidably disastrous start to the season is one unavoidable aspect for those of us Blue Army members who analyse Foxes goings-on. And it has been very unsatisfying doing so in 2022/23.
Though deconstructing defeat is one way to design a more suitable plan for victory. So hopefully Rodgers and his staff have gone through losses meticulously in order to resolve the many glaring issues of the team.
However, some of us believe the ex-Liverpool boss to be too stubborn to take measures to help the side. I cannot explain this as it is nonsensical and illogical if Rodgers is in fact in that frame of mind. If you disagree, tell me why LCFC are still employing a flailing and counterproductive hybrid zone on set-pieces for our unwanted, laughable and massively targeted corner defending. Or try to defend continuing with Danny Ward instead of the rational choice of at least trying Daniel Iversen in goal at this point.
Leicester City EPL title winner makes unlikely Brendan Rodgers shout
Has Rodgers lost the King Power dressing room after so much mismanagement and so many mismanaged players such as Caglar Soyuncu? Well, Jamie Vardy’s recent seemingly substitute-induced disgusted look towards his gaffer may have been misconstrued, the striker definitely appeared genuinely dissatisfied with the Northern Irishman as he left the field.
Add to this the very believable view or claim of The Athletic’s Rob Tanner, a reputable Foxes reporter, that certain personnel within the squad have lost confidence in the onetime Swansea City manager. The latter’s methods and the unorthodox roles players are being asked to play are now under question internally, as well.
All this makes Danny Simpson’s suggestion that the LCFC players ‘still believe in Rodgers’ before playing Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest seem a little unrealistic, on the whole. There may be one or two Foxes who still want the current head coach to remain in charge, and a bit of respect for what he previously achieved, yet this is a bad situation. A few of the athletes have undoubtedly come across as unhappy.
