Maddison injury update and Leicester star talks infamous casino visit
Leicester City’s James Maddison has given his own injury update, and the Foxes and England star also talks of an infamous casino visit.
When the Leicester star went down injured early in the clash with West Ham United in the final Premier League match before the World Cup and was consequently withdrawn from action, the Blue Army and Three Lions fans held their collective breath. The prominent attacking midfielder had just been called back up to represent his nation in the tournament following informal petitions from supporters up and down the country.
Thankfully the issue wasn’t too serious, and the ex-Norwich City footballer was on the plane to Qatar with the rest of the squad and staff. In fact, at a press conference this week, the 25-year-old gave details on his problem. Maddison revealed that he had a scan, with positive results. In addition, he said he should be fit for selection, but he has missed a training session.
Leicester City’s James Maddison talks infamous casino visit attributed to England omission
During the playmaker’s England National Team presser, he was asked all matter of questions. Some about the tournament and how how the training facilities are, etcetera. As ever, Maddison was charming and insightful; his interviews are well-known for their entertainingly candid and down-to-earth value.
Many people were previously under the impression that ‘Madders’ served some kind of sentence imposed by Gareth Southgate’s supposed kangaroo court. Yet it appears that the infamous ‘casino incident’ timeline was confused, at the very least.
You see, the Fox explained that the situation was misinterpreted by media, or even concocted to a certain degree. Basically, Maddison pulled out of a Three Lions outing in October 2019, though he was seen out gambling soon after. Although he pointed out that he was actually capped after that all took place. While Maddison wouldn’t divulge more details about the event or his standing with the international boss afterwards, he proclaimed it ‘no big deal’ for the former Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace professional.
Southgate also recently spoke of the speculation surrounding his recalled player’s activity a few seasons ago. The gaffer explained that the scenario did not involve the drama others claimed it to.
