Finally, after far too long, Leicester City are back in action on Tuesday as they visit MK Dons for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. The game falls perfectly for City, who can use this as a warm-up towards the resumption of the Premier League on Boxing Day.

The fixture isn’t only a good warm-up, it’s a tie that could see the Foxes ease into the next round of a cup competition that the club should be aiming to win. The Stadium MK plays host tonight and travelling fans will be looking forward to a good game under the lights. Here are the three things to look out for in tonight’s match.

Return of the internationals

After a majority of Leicester’s World Cup representatives left the competition following the conclusion of the group stage, some of the club’s most crucial international stars are now back ahead of tonight’s game.

The Foxes have already shared pictures of Danny Ward, Youri Tielemans, and Wout Faes on social media as they played in both friendly games against Troyes and Sheffield United; fans will be expecting to see them starting in Milton Keynes. Daniel Amartey and Timothy Castagne will also be vying for starts tonight as they put their full focus back into the club season.

As reported by LeicestershireLive, the club also welcomed back Papy Mendy after his Senegal side crashed out of the round of 16 against England. Mendy will have enjoyed the frequent starts in Qatar and will be aiming to get himself back into contention for Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

The only World Cup player yet to return is James Maddison, though he was granted extended leave by the club as he refreshed himself with a holiday in Dubai. Maddison won’t play tonight and is very unlikely to even be on the bench, but will be back for the crucial game against Newcastle on Sunday.

Still, even without Maddison, the international talent that the squad possesses could be – and should be – the deciding factor against MK Dons. Faes, Castagne, and Ward will all be pushing to start after their frustrating lack of games in the World Cup, and Youri Tielemans will be looking to continue his recent streak of creating a one-man goal of the season shortlist.
