Ahead of Leicester City’s Premier League match versus Newcastle United, Foxes of Leicester predict the Foxes XI and detail injury news, including James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira, Will Alves, Jonny Evans, Ryan Bertrand, James Justin and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Although the Blue Army have already witnessed their team back in action with a League Cup quarterfinals place booked, nothing compares to the English top-flight. Actually, maybe the World Cup is the exception when the competition is as stirring and inspiring as it was on this occasion. Either way, FoL cannot wait for Monday, even with Christmas in between!

Milton Keynes Dons were the Carabao Cup warm-up opposition, so to speak, before the Newcastle contest. Leicester were 3-0 winners at Stadium MK; Jamie Vardy, Ayoze Perez and Youri Tielemans scored on the night. A thoroughly professional and entertaining display that was, too.

However, when trying to predict the Foxes starting lineup to face the Magpies on December 26, the EFL fixture won’t represent the strongest LCFC side. Brendan Rodgers generally rotates his XI for those outings; alternatives often feature even in latter stages, when the east Midlanders make it that far.

In fact, Perez and Vardy aren’t respectively guaranteed to start the NUFC game. Nevertheless, FoL will have a go at predicting the chosen players, as usual.

Predicted Leicester City XI for Newcastle United clash

Firstly, before selecting our Leicester team, let’s gauge the status of unfit Foxes. Ryan Bertrand and James Justin remain sidelined, says Rodgers. Bertrand is not close to playing yet, though the former Southampton man is ‘out on the field’; the ex-Luton town star is working on strengthening, revealed the boss.

Happily, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is ready for selection once again; Ricardo Pereira is nearing health, January was mentioned as a return date. James Maddison will be assessed over the weekend; Jonny Evans is out with a calf issue. Incidentally, a ridiculously revolting foul on young Fox Will Alves has ended his season. Below is our expected LCFC XI:
