Foxes of Leicester react to the starting lineup chosen by Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers for the Premier League contest vs Liverpool at Anfield.

The defence and goalkeeper selected themselves due to personnel issues. FoL is unsurprised to see Wilfred Ndidi back in the starting XI. Though two defensive midfielders can be slightly negative, even when playing a team such as the Reds.

I’m sure some fans were shocked to see Youri Tielemans omitted and Ndidi made captain. Similarly, Ayoze Perez is one of few options. I am slightly surprised that Jamie Vardy did not return to the lineup.

Brendan Rodgers returns to Reds with Leicester City

As we all know, Rodgers used to manage Liverpool. That appointment was sandwiched in between stints at Welsh side Swansea City and Scottish outfit Celtic. Prior to that, the Northern Irishman was a prominent youth coach under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

So, Rodgers has enjoyed quite the rounded and fruitful career. He really made his name at Swansea, and subsequently became a household name whilst managing the Merseysiders. However, the 49-year-old, in spite of a retiring personality, won’t want to miss a chance to prove to the huge club that is liverpool just what they are missing. Not to mention ensuring an improved display is produced after the dross against Newcastle.

During his pre-LFC press conference in King Power Centre at LCFC Training Ground, Rodgers said that they must forget the Magpies thrashing at King Power Stadium on Boxing Day. Yes, the boss admits, the loss to Eddie Howe’s men was a disappointment but he states that the performance wasn’t reflective of how the Foxes were performing on recent occasions.

In addition to that, the Leicester gaffer spoke of his former outfit. Rodgers knows the threat Jurgen Kopp’s team carry, yet says challenges are there to be overcome. He believes the fixture could be ideal for the east Midlanders to turn fortunes around once again.

Furthermore, Rodgers was also asked about his squad’s mentality. He says there has been much effort and commitment in training following the poor display and result. The boss pointed at the match against Klopp’s side last season when they won 1-0 after a heavy defeat by Manchester City.
