Predicting two Leicester XIs for Northampton friendly
Leicester City fans will get their first proper glimpse of Enzo Maresca’s Foxes side when they take on Northampton Town in their second pre-season friendly. Their first was a behind-closed-doors friendly against Peterborough United which City lost 2-1.
It will be the first time fans will get to watch summer recruits Coady and Winks take to the field live in LCFC blue, while it is also expected that Maresca will give opportunities to fringe and youth players. As pre-season has only just begun it is expected that Maresca will field two sides in each half as the squad rebuild’s its fitness levels after the summer break.
Leicester City’s predicted first half XI
Danny Ward: The Wales international was missing in the match against Peterborough after returning to training slightly later. Ward had his spot robbed by Daniel Iversen towards the end of last season so will be keen to take that place back.
Ricardo Pereira: The right-back was the scorer of Leicester’s only goal against Peterborough as he drove his effort into the bottom corner.
Harry Souttar: After being used by Brendan Rodgers straight away after his January move, the Australian international struggled to cement his spot in the side, but under Maresca, he could be used more often.
Conor Coady: The new signing is quickly becoming a fan favourite. With Jonny Evans set to depart the England international will add much-needed experience.
Timothy Castagne: Transfer rumours continue to swirl around the Belgian’s future with Juventus and Arsenal linked. But at the time of writing, he is still a Leicester player.
