Leicester eye transfer for ex-Man United player
Foxes of Leicester detail Leicester City’s apparent interest in a potential transfer for ex-Manchester United player Paddy McNair. And we take a look at the subsequent friendly match following an LCFC loss to local Peterborough United and a win against nearby Northampton Town.
According to TEAMtalk, the Leicestershire club might perhaps be after a Man United old boy. McNair is a product of the Red Devils’ acclaimed youth system, as well as a Northern Ireland international. He is a rather imposing defender and occasional defensive midfielder at six-foot-two-inches.
The report states that Middlesbrough, his current team, will listen to offers for McNair this summer. The 28-year-old has only one year remaining on his existing contract, and Boro need the money. Along with Leicester, Luton Town, Burnley, Sheffield United, Fulham, Bournemouth and Leeds United are monitoring the Ballyclare-born man.
Next up for Leicester City in the preseason schedule
As previously mentioned, Leicester managed to lose to Peterborough in a behind-closed-doors match that fans were not allowed to attend or stream live. Ricardo Pereira bagged the Foxes goal in the outing. After that meeting, LCFC did have a game for supporters to fully get involved in versus Northampton. The Cobblers did not produce any goals and Leicester came out of Sixfields with a 1-0 victory. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored for the east Midlands side on that occasion; his header was ultimately the difference on the day.
LCFC – or King Power International Group – ‘sister club’ Oud-Heverlee Leuven from the Belgian Pro League are the next opponents on the calendar. OHL, as the team are widely know, are in fine form at present as I peruse their recent fixtures. Kickoff is at 11am BST on Wednesday, July 19. Enzo Maresca is expected to field almost the entire Foxes squad in cameos over the course of 90 minutes.
