Leicester City went crashing out of the Carabao cup on Wednesday night, thanks to a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. Enzo Maresca made 10 changes to the side that beat Bristol City on the previous Saturday afternoon, so fans may have been expecting the East Midlands side to be rolled over by the Premier League opposition. That was anything but the case.

As LCFC took the lead thanks to Kasey McAteer in the opening minutes of the contest with a swift counter attack move. But three second half goals in front of the Kop end from Liverpool’s stars was enough to complete the comeback for the team from Merseyside and take them through the the next round of the cup. On a night where many positives could be taken here are the FoL’s player ratings.

Jakub Stolarczyk: 4
It was a very inconsistent performance from LCFC’s back up goalkeeper. There were occasions where he looked relatively comfortable. Then times where he looked frantic and a liability. Not much he could have down for the goals in all fairness to him, as all three were high quality. But his all around game was somewhat all over the place.

Ricardo Pereira: 5

It was always going to be a tough ask for City to play in the manner in which Maresca has them doing away at Anfield. Due to the aggressive pressing nature of the home side. However, like many of the Foxes side, Pereira at times looked good, at others looked overwhelmed. On occasion he played the inverted full back role well – when in possession -. But the Portuguese international  found it difficult to find that consistency with his technique and passing variety due to the quality of the opposition.
