Leicester City head coach Enzo Maresca was recently asked about possible contract renewals for Foxes stars such as Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho. Dennis Praet, Marc Albrighton and Alex Smithies also have rapidly expiring deals with the east Midlands club, situations which must be addressed at some point. Yet the Italian in charge at King Power Stadium is unconcerned with the list and says he has more pressing matters to tend to. Foxes of Leicester also briefly examine Sunday’s opponents, Blackburn Rovers.

Can we expect new agreements for Vardy, Ndidi or even Iheanacho? No, not at the minute.

You see, Maresca believes that the issue of contracts running down is not a ‘priority’ at the moment. Read more here.

Blackburn Rovers entertain league leaders Leicester City at Ewood Park

Let’s take a little look at Blackburn now, as the northern English team prepare for a visit from recently top Championship team, Leicester. Rovers Manager Jon Dahl Tomasson was widely acclaimed for the great football they regularly exhibited last season. I must say, on the one occasion I watched BRFC compete in 2022/23, they appeared to be a very competent and entertaining Premier League-standard side.

Of course Blackburn eventually finished seventh in tier two in that campaign, missing out on the Playoffs by two points with Sunderland just ahead. Before we get too ahead of ourselves, though, it is worth mentioning that this term has begun much tougher for the Lancashire outfit so far. The Blue and Whites are in seventeenth position at present; a vast difference of quality is being exhibited comparatively to last year.

However, Rovers are no pushovers having won three fixtures already in 2023/24. LCFC will have to keep the impressive Sammie Szmodics under wraps if they are to continue their push to automatic promotion. Meanwhile, important Blackburn man Harry Leonard is unavailable for selection by Tomasson.
