There was high praise for the now confident and improved Leicester City team from a rival Championship boss. That is, in spite of Alex Neil’s Stoke City losing out at King Power Stadium on Saturday. Meanwhile the Foxes go on a scouting mission to Portugal with a mystery player being assessed.

Popular striker Kelechi Iheanacho and veteran Foxes centreforward Jamie Vardy bagged the goals against Stoke in Leicester’s march back to the Premier League. A returning Ricardo Pereira and the newly attacking Wilfred Ndidi got the assists against the Potters, incidentally. Those four are a real core of this contemporary and enjoyable – even if it is second division football – LCFC side. However, the addition of Mads Hermansen, Harry Winks and Stephy Mavididi in particular cannot be underestimated. Gluing the outfit together with almost instant, fairly seamless and meticulous care is head coach Enzo Maresca.

I think pretty much everyone watching on, involved or analysing, like ourselves at Foxes of Leicester, consider this Leicester incarnation more than capable of achieving automatic promotion. The modern Foxes appear to be one of the best-ever Championship sides, as we see it. Stoke manager Alex Neil was certainly impressed with 2023/24 LCFC, despite being defeated earlier that day. He says Maresca’s men won’t be bettered in tier two for a long time after they’re hopefully gone. Neil even kindly noted the home fans and stadium as plus points for the Leicestershire club.

Who is the mystery star being watched by Leicester City scouts at the Porto-Portimonense match?

Apparently the east Midlanders are already searching for their next star or starlet, with a trip to Portugal recently reported. A Portuguese newspaper claims a scout from Leicester City Football Club attended a Porto match on assignment. Although the target is unnamed, Evanilson, Diogo Costa, Zé Pedro and Dennis Adeniran were highlighted as possibilities.
