2. Leicester City team selection

There were surprisingly few changes from the team that took to the field in South Wales on Saturday. Casadei replaced Wilfred Ndidi in midfield and Iheanacho alternated with Jamie Vardy up front. There was one tactical shift with Ricardo Pereira and James Justin switching flanks. This was presumably designed to counter the threat of Jack Clarke on the left allowing Pereira to play as an inverted full back on the other side. Justin played well against a very tricky player and also, of course, popped up in the six-yard box to head the winner.

I was going to suggest that Maresca might have freshened things up a bit more. He could, I suppose, have rested one of his centre backs and given Conor Coady a rare start. But that is about it to be honest. Even a squad as celebrated as Leicester’s looks in need now of one or two fresh faces in January. We reported recently that this is what is likely to happen. With Yunus Akgun, Callum Doyle, Kasey McAteer, Dennis Praet and now seemingly Wilfred Ndidi (who wasn’t on the bench tonight) injured, the opportunity to rotate has diminished.
