Having been relegated back to the Championship, Leicester will need to make changes to their squad ahead of the season. Three players, including Jamie Vardy, are out of their contracts, but other players will need to make way too to give Leicester the funding needed to sign a few more players. Here are five players that need to be sold in the summer.
5 players Leicester has to sell more than anyone else this summer
1. Bilal El Khannouss
El Khannouss will likely generate a decent profit in the summer if he's sold. Several Premier League clubs are already interested in the Moroccan international, including Arsenal and Aston Villa, which could be good for Leicester if the clubs were to fight in a bidding war.
El Khannouss has shown potential, which points to why these clubs are considering a move for him. The attacking midfielder struggled in the Premier League this season, but that's not surprising considering the side he was playing for.
In 32 games, he scored two goals and had three assists. The attacking midfielder would be a good addition for teams trying to bolster their attack. Surrounded by quality players, El Khannouss can thrive in the Premier League. He would be key in creating chances and getting on the end of the ball towards goal.
2. Wout Faes
Faes is certain to move from Leicester now that the team has been relegated. He has long since been linked to a move away and with the team back in the Championship, the defender will want to secure playing time at a higher level.
Leicester's defense was poor all season, but Faes is still a highly rated defender. Leicester fans likely want to see a new defensive unit in the Championship, so many will be okay with Faes being sold.
With interest from Lazio and Bayern Munich, Faes could see a move out of English football. His valuation is around £17m, which would give Leicester a nice profit for the defender.
3. Harry Winks
Harry Winks fell out of favor with Ruud van Nistelrooy, and if van Nistelrooy stays on at Leicester, it would make a move for Winks even more probable. Regardless of who is managing the club, Leicester would be financially better off selling Winks, before his contract expires next season and he would move for free.
Winks is a product of the Tottenham academy and was slated to be a good prospect. Winks started 17 matches this season but only finished with two assists and no goals. While these statistics seem underwhelming, he wasn't surrounded by the best players in the world to help him out.
There were reports late last year that Tottenham could make a surprise move to resign the midfielder, but nothing came of those rumors. If Tottenham were to consider the move again this summer, Winks could make Leicester a good profit.
4. Wilfred Ndidi
Ndidi has been with Leicester for almost 10 seasons now, but the Nigerian international will likely be sold in the summer. The midfielder had five assists in the Premier League this season, which led the team.
Ndidi is a fan favorite thanks to his longevity at the club but with the club being in the Championship, he'll want to continue his career in a bigger league at the highest level. He has a £9m relegation release clause, which he added to his contract after signing a new three-year deal last summer.
Ndidi will be a valuable asset for any club he ends up with. He is dominant in the midfield and can get back quickly to stop counterattacks. He is also important to his own team's attack, which could be seen in his team-leading assist statistic.
5. James Justin
Justin is the final player that Leicester must sell this summer. While he has been important for the team, his lack of consistency has been his undoing.
The full-back struggled this season, which again isn't surprising given the lack of quality that Leicester had. For a player of his stature though, Justin has to do better going forward. He made plenty of mistakes this season, some of which led to goals for his opponents.
The club needs to find a different right-back who has more experience than Justin. Leicester will need to bolster their defense if there is any hope of getting back into the Premier League next season. Justin could be ousted by Tariq Lamptey, who was linked with a move to the Foxes back in January.
