There are many heroes belonging to Leicester City Football Club. Those who saved and preserved the team. The ones who won trophies and pleased the Blue Army fan base no end. Too many Foxes icons and legends exist (especially in the contemporary era) for me to mention specific examples. But if I were, then ballers such as N'golo Kante and former LCFC teammate Marc Albrighton would be on the list of nominees.
And Albrighton really rated Kante, as well as making some fascinating revelations about the World Cup-winner with France. The Englishman, who did feature for England Under-20s and U21s, has told several stories about the alien-like, diminutive defensive midfielder. Though the bombshell I am about to reveal will most likely surprise, or even shock, neutral supporters along with the King Power faithful. This is the player Leicester are said to have really wanted to sign instead of Kante. Not to mention what we make of it all.
Marc Albrighton dropped an N'golo Kante bombshell regarding the player Leicester City really wanted to sign instead of the Frenchman
Lucky Leicester eh? Well, luck is the residue of design, as Brooklyn Dodgers baseball boss Wesley Branch Rickey once informed us all. But on the occasion in question, City appear to have been fortunate.
Basically, Kante wasn't the top LCFC target when he was signed. In fact, we know (as Albrighton states here) that Kante was second-choice upon arrival.
That's because Kante wasn't in Claudio Ranieri's starting lineup at first. Forgotten Fox Gökhan Inler was actually the man ahead of the former in the XI. Yet City wanted a separate midfield man.
You see, according to legendary Foxes winger Marc Albrighton, Nampalys (Papy) Mendy was the prime target. Leicester eventually lost Kante to Chelsea. And Mendy was actually acquired shortly before the now Al-Ittihad player departed.
