Leicester City have begun to sell players, instead of just getting rid of deadwood when their contracts expire.

Bilal El Khannouss is now officially off the King Power books, having sealed a permanent move to Stuttgart, with the Foxes' social media confirming this unsurprising news at the start of July.

Jeremy Monga will most certainly be another departure very shortly, as the 16-year-old wins the big move everyone expected he would receive, with the teenager set to become a £12.5m signing for Manchester City.

Monga will hope he can go on to be a success at the Etihad, rather than going down as an expensive starlet who never makes inroads into the first-team set-up at the ten-time Premier League champions.

While many will feel Monga has left the King Power somewhat prematurely, the time does feel right on Leicester's end to cash in on Abdul Fatawu, as several sides remain keen on the Ghanaian winger, who has just been knocked out of the World Cup.

With that distraction no longer there, he will want to sort out his short-term future in the game, and it looks increasingly likely he will be exiting the Foxes.

A new club is interested in Fatawu

New reports seem to indicate that Besiktas from Turkey are keen to land Fatawu, with it being noted that negotations have already started between Istanbul giants, and the League One side, over ironing out a deal.

With suitors coming from the Premier League, too, according to this new scoop, it does feel like a foregone conclusion that the 22-year-old will be packing his bags imminently.

At the end of the day, his ceiling is far above League One, even if he was part of the miserable camp that suffered relegation last season.

Moreover, he could bank Leicester significant cash this off-season, which will be hopefully spent wisely on some new recruits.

It does remain up in the air as to how much the Foxes will be able to win for Fatawu, with a £30m valuation previously touted.

Hopefully, they're able to drain any respective club that wants Fatawu for every bit of money they've got, as the decision to fork out £14m for his services in 2024 has paid off.

Sad ending, but deserves a big move

Fatawu will look back on his three-season stay with Leicester, if it is to end this summer, with mixed feelings.

He will be annoyed that he has the blemish on his CV of back-to-back relegations, alongside the fact his only season in the Premier League to date was derailed by injuries.

But, for both of the campaigns he was fully fit for, he impressed for the most part, with a stellar 15 goals and 21 assists next to his name in the second tier, as a Championship title was even won off the back of his trickery during the 2023/24 season under Enzo Maresca.

At 22 years of age, he will feel has a lot more to give at an elite level, and to stay in League One next campaign would be a poor career choice.

It would also be mad for Leicester not to cash in while the one-time Sporting attacker remains a hot commodity, as a move to Turkey is potentially secured very soon for Fatawu.
