Since current Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha (known to the Blue Army as "Top") succeeded his father (the late Khun Vichai), a sharper focus was placed on youth development; long-term planning took root at Filbert Way. Behind the scenes, Khun Vichai built with clear purpose, and his mission was eventually realised: to make LCFC great again! He was essentially LE2's Pharaoh Khufu, in a figurative sense.

Amidst that uncertainty, however, one element remained reliably strong: LCFC's commitment to nurturing young talent, an ambition Vichai had strengthened by building the outstanding training complex at Seagrave.
That world-class facility allowed Leicester not only to keep promising local players within their system but also to attract gifted prospects who might otherwise have chosen 'bigger sides'. Over the last half-decade, the academy has produced a steady stream of footballers with the ability and potential to make their mark at the highest level.

The player underwent his medical on Monday 6 July, ahead of his 17th birthday on 10 July; the date on which his scholarship arrangement would automatically convert into a professional contract. A detail that strengthened Leicester's negotiating hand and ensured a valuation far higher than the lower sums Arsenal suggested earlier on in discussions.
