Since current Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha (known to the Blue Army as "Top") succeeded his father (the late Khun Vichai), a sharper focus was placed on youth development; long-term planning took root at Filbert Way. Yet these forward strides were never limited to match days at King Power Stadium or the older training ground at Belvoir Drive.

Behind the scenes, Khun Vichai built with clear purpose, and his mission was eventually realised: to make LCFC great again! He was essentially LE2's Pharaoh Khufu, in a figurative sense.

The Foxes consequently upset the established order and briefly shifted the balance of power within the Premier League's so-called "big six". Lifting the English top flight trophy, reaching a European competition quarter final and winning the FA Cup.

They were chievements secured on the firm foundation laid by "The Boss", and partially sustained in the years following his tragic passing in 2018. That devastating loss shook the club to its foundations, and Top seemingly found it difficult to carry forward his father's vision with the same assurance.

Over the following four or five seasons, the club's fortunes faded on and off the pitch, undermined by inconsistent decision-making in the boardroom and on the touchline, until successive relegations and mounting financial pressures created a situation that felt deeply unfamiliar to supporters. Amidst that uncertainty, however, one element remained reliably strong: LCFC's commitment to nurturing young talent, an ambition Vichai had strengthened by building the outstanding training complex at Seagrave.

That world-class facility allowed Leicester not only to keep promising local players within their system but also to attract gifted prospects who might otherwise have chosen 'bigger sides'. Over the last half-decade, the academy has produced a steady stream of footballers with the ability and potential to make their mark at the highest level.

Jeremy Monga to Manchester City from Leicester City

Jeremy Monga stood out among them as perhaps the brightest prospect ever to emerge. A Coventry-born winger whose precocious ability drew attention from almost every major outfit in the land; his reputation spoke for itself without the need for lengthy recitation.

It is easy to imagine Arsenal looking back with regret after modest valuation concerns derailed a suitor. Subsequently seeing the bad omen Manchester City complete the deal may yet come to be seen as a significant turning point in how the coming campaign shapes up. According to reports from respected sources including Fabrizio Romano, the principal terms of the transfer are now confirmed: Leicester will receive an initial fee close to £10 million, with further payments due should agreed milestones be reached.

The player underwent his medical on Monday 6 July, ahead of his 17th birthday on 10 July; the date on which his scholarship arrangement would automatically convert into a professional contract. A detail that strengthened Leicester's negotiating hand and ensured a valuation far higher than the lower sums Arsenal suggested earlier on in discussions.
