The mood of Leicester City's Blue Army fan base has shifted from the heights of a miracle to a obtrusive fog of disillusionment. LCFC supporters are no longer just disappointed: they are fundamentally detached. Exhausted by a perceived lack of heart, as well as an obviously catastrophic slide toward the third tier. This bitterness stems from a sense of boardroom abandonment; those in the stands feel the current crop of players treat the shirt as a temporary convenience rather than a badge of honor.

What's happened?

In the midst of this crisis, club legend Andy King stepped into the breach to replace the sacked Marti Cifuentes on a temporary basis. King's notable career is City-centric; he was heavily involved in the Foxes' greatest contemporary triumphs.

Though King finds himself failing to navigate nor buoy a ship that is taking on water at an alarming rate. However, the Welshman he is seen only as a stopgap.

What's next?

The boardroom is reportedly looking at Gary Rowett as yet another short-term team leader for the final months of the season. The fact that the club is turning to such 'firefighting' figures highlights a deeper rot: a total vacuum of identity and a lack of any long-term plan from a possibly broken hierarchy that seems to be making it up as they go along.

Leicester City roster under fire

The squad, meanwhile, is doing little to silence its own deserved criticism. Performances have been plagued by a bizarre inconsistency: the team frequently showing up for only one half of football, beginning or collapsing into a state of lethargy.

This habit of underperforming is pushing Leicester to the brink of relegation when coupled with the points deduction. Although, King remains adamant that the dressing room is hurting, insisting that the players truly care about the plight.

"They [the LCFC squad] certainly care. They’re trying, it’s not an effort thing... They’re angry, they share the frustration and they’re working hard to put it right."

With the threat of back-to-back demotions looming, one significant question remains. Will the players' supposed collective investment in City translate into the grit needed for Championship survival, or is it too little, too late?
