If the Leicester City managerial search was a fox hunt, the LCFC board has now finally stopped circling the woods and set its sights on a familiar face. Following John Percy's report that Gary Rowett is the frontrunner for a short-term rescue mission, the Blue Army has spoken - and the mood is less a roar of defiance, more a measured nod of acceptance.

Asking fans what they think of Leicester City potentially appointing Gary Rowett

The poll results paint a picture of a fanbase prioritising survival over flair, prudence. With 179 votes cast, the consensus is clear: the "OK" and "Good" camps form a combined 76 per cent majority.

While only 30% view the recent Oxford United man's likely appointment as "Good," a significant 46% plurality settled on "OK." It suggests that while Rowett is certainly not be the 'dream' installation to ignite the King Power, he is widely viewed as a safe pair of hands to navigate a storm.

Only 20% deemed the move "Not Good", showing that the 'Never Rowett' contingent are firmly in the minority. For now, anyway. This "cautious optimism" stems from a desperate need for defensive structure and, ultimately, avoiding relegation.

Getting the job done

Leicester have leaked goals like a cracked carafe. Rowett's reputation as an EFL Championship pragmatist (appearing to boast a one-in-three clean sheet ratio) is the exact tonic for a disappointing team currently sitting in the bottom three.

Fans seem to recognise that the six-point deduction cast a dark cloud over Filbert Way. A former Fox who understands the East Midlands outfit's DNA and the division's grit is a logical, if unglamorous, choice. The hire is born of necessity; the Blue Army is apparently ready to trade entertainment (which was in short supply) for survival.
