On Wednesday evening, Bristol City host Leicester City at Ashton Gate Stadium in the South West of England. Seven places separate the Robins and the Foxes at present. However, a loss for the home side would see their opponents on the night overtake them in the English Football League Championship table.
Marti Cifuentes and his men are not enjoying the campaign which many fans, experts, ex-professionals and pundits predicted to be a walk in the park for them! As a matter of fact, 2025/26 has been another slog for LCFC's Blue Army fan base overall. Hope of promotion remains on Filbert Way, though this time it really feels like Leicester's final chance to stake a claim this season.
Although, the 'other' City returned to being victorious upon travelling to Midlands rivals Derby County. Derby were also above the visitors before the match took place. We all know that Cifuentes' team obtained the three points in fairly impressive fashion on the day. Therefore the King Power outfit are a wounded yet dangerous animal to entertain or defeat - occasionally!
But what about the next fixture versus Gerhard Struber's team? How are they shaping up in preparation for the Foxes visit?
Leicester City receive boost in form of blow for Bristol City due to Robins trio being unavailable
First of all, Leicester have their own injury issues at the moment. Not to mention midfielder Harry Winks being unselectable at present. While the reason hasn't been revealed exactly - reports point to a training ground quarrel between Cifuentes and his player.
Meanwhile, six LCFC stars are potentially sidelined as well. They consist of Jeremy Monga, Boubakary Soumare, Aaron Ramsey, Victor Kristiansen, Caleb Okoli and Harry Souttar.
Over in the Bristol camp, things are improving fitness-wise. Yet Struber may be without three of his own personal in midweek, although one or two others are apparently nearing availability:
"Rob Atkinson , who sustained an injury last month, is thought to be targeting a return to fitness before the Christmas period in a key boost for the team’s defence. He’s ahead of Luke McNally and Josh Williams who are unlikely to be back in action until the start of 2026."Bristol World
