When is the Carabao Cup second round draw?
Those wanting to watch the Carabao Cup second round should tune into Sky Sports at around 7:20pm on the evening of Monday 10 August. The draw will take place ahead of live coverage of the Devon Derby, Plymouth Argyle vs Exeter City. David Prutton alongside Jobi McAnuff and Jamie Mackie will be conducting the draw.
Who could Leicester City draw in the Carabao Cup second round?
As is the case for the first round, the second round of the EFL Cup is regionalised into Northern and Southern sections. This is an attempt to reduce travel time and costs for supporters as well as teams. Leicester is located very much on the north south divide, underlined by the fact that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest and Derby County are all in the Northern section.
Nevertheless, the Foxes find themselves in the southern half of the draw, so have 35 potential opponents.
Leicester City's potential Carabao Cup round 2 opponents:
- Premier League: Brentford, Fulham, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Ipswich Town & Coventry City.
- EFL Championship: Millwall, Cardiff City, Norwich City, Birmingham City, Watford, West Ham United, Southampton & Charlton Athletic.
- EFL League One: Stevenage, Cambridge United, AFC Wimbledon, Peterborough United, Reading, Luton Town & Leyton Orient.
- EFL League Two: Walsall.
- To be determined: Plymouth Argyle (L1) or Exeter City (L2).
There is the potential for a couple of tasty Midlands derbies, with big-spending Birmingham City and newly-promoted into the Premier League Coventry City also in the southern side of the draw. With the 11 top division sides not in UEFA competition joining at this stage, there are some potentially daunting ties in there too, namely those against Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
When will the Carabao Cup second round be played?
The EFL Cup second round ties will be played on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 August. This places it in between the Foxes' home games against Burton Albion and a trip to Stadium MK to face Milton Keynes.
How can I watch Leicester City in the Carabao Cup?
All 93 Carabao Cup ties are broadcast live in the UK by Sky Sports. Free-to-air terrestrial channel ITV also show a minimum of one match per round but, unless Leicester draw Chelsea or Tottenham, their clash is unlikely to be the one showcased to a wider audience.
