Leicester City need all the funding, investment or capital they can muster at present, as the LE2 club navigate a precarious financial landscape shaped by years of questionable decision-making and overspending. The Foxes' finances have been left in a fragile state following a period of mismanagement that culminated in back-to-back relegations, leaving the East Midlanders facing significant constraints as they attempt to rebuild amidst the chaos and testing environment of the English Football League.
One or two appropriate players have not been sold, nor bought, in some areas, leaving the squad imbalanced and the organisation seemingly scrambling to address key positions while operating under tight budgetary limits. As a matter of fact, and ironically, LCFC have gotten rid of much of its unwanted personnel and valuable stars, occasionally for quite high prices, which has helped offset some of the financial pressure even if the recruitment side of the equation has moved far slower than supporters would like.
Not to mention that many roles have been filled by additions to King Power squad, yet the side still requires another striker and at least two centre backs if even one of Caleb Okoli, Harry Souttar or Wout Faes does indeed eventually depart. Money is key, and the Foxes are said to be on the verge of receive a partial cash injection that could help bridge the gap in their summer spending plans.
Rare prudence from Leicester City
The boost comes from the apparently imminent sale of George Hirst to Stoke City from Ipswich Town. A deal valued at around £10 million that will trigger a sell-on clause LCFC inserted when the striker moved to Portman Road back in July 2023.
Hirst originally joined Leicester from Belgian side OH Leuven in the summer of 2019. He spent four years on the books, enjoying loan spells at Rotherham United, Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers before making his move to Ipswich permanent for an undisclosed fee in the region of £1m.

Standing at six foot three, the Scotland international is a powerful centre forward with an eye for goal, having scored 11 times last season as he helped Ipswich win promotion to the Premier League for the second time in two years. He first helped the Tractor Boys climb out of League One in 2023, then secured Championship promotion to the top flight in 2026.
The 27-year-old's physical presence and finishing ability are qualities Leicester could definitely do with right now as they look to strengthen their own attacking options. City relinquished him three years ago believing he was surplus to requirements, yet Hirst's remarkable development in the intervening period means he could easily be a valuable asset back among the ranks.
Ipswich now look set for a huge profit on their initial outlay, while the Foxes will be grateful for the unexpected revenue stream as they continue to reshape their squad under difficult circumstances. The amount is undisclosed but typically ranges between 10 per cent and 20% of the profit.
