Considering the number of departures that Leicester City are expected to face, in a call that many fans have been asking for anyway, the club will be forced to turn to their youth players. Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans are already attracting interest from others.
In a move that would only further infuriate the fan base, their departure, particularly after the showing of some of the current Foxes, would go over terribly among the supporters. There are two names, however, who appear to be the immediate LCFC future. At least for now, two academy products are expected back at Seagrave following their loan spells to Championship sides.
Will Alves, 20, is a promising winger option who was on loan at Cardiff City. He has eight Championship starts under his belt and six further appearances as a substitute. Eager and willing to take chances in the opposition's final third, it will be worth it for City to see how he plays with an extended run of play.
Ben Nelson is a 21-year-old center back who played at Oxford United this past season. He helped ensure the U's continued stay in the Championship with a header off a set piece against Sunderland. The defender has 16 starts to his name, as well as a stint off the bench.
Encouraging start to Leicester careers
For both, the direct involvement in the first-team activities will be a positive that should allow LCFC to trust the young players to help in the club's quest to earn promotion back into the Premier League next season.
Nothing is official in terms of what will happen at the manager position. If Ruud van Nistelrooy is to remain, the Dutchman has already taken notice of Nelson and Alves. Not that he wouldn't say anything negative or anything of that nature, but RvN did express optimism in the Foxes potentially using the returning loanees in a more prominent role for Leicester in 2025/2026.
