Leicester City need to realise quickly, while they will be a big dog next season in League One, that promotion isn't going to be handed over to them with ease.
Instead, the Foxes are going to have battle hard to immediately jump back up to the Championship, with the third tier home to some huge beasts over the years, who have had to stay in its lurches for longer than expected.
Bolton Wanderers, who are an ex-Premier League outfit like the Foxes, have been at the level for five straight seasons now, in just one eye-opening example.
The want for Darren Ferguson as Leicester's new manager does make sense in this regard, as the 54-year-old is a promotion expert when it comes to getting out of League One's tight grasp.
The prospect of Ferguson as Leicester's new manager
Of all the reports mounting up linking Leicester with brand-new managers, links to Ferguson taking on the reins seem to have the most weight attached to them.
TalkSPORT has even entered the conversation to state that the Scotsman would be keen on a move to the King Power, as he goes about repairing his fractured reputation, which saw him leave Peterborough United this season - in the third tier - in a relegation mess.
Ultimately, though, Leicester don't have an extensive list of managers jumping at the chance of taking over the sleeping giants, and Ferguson ticks the boxes when it comes to hiring a serial promotion winner.
Indeed, all while at the helm of Posh, the Glaswegian has steered the Cambridgeshire outfit to three promotions into the promised land of the Championship. He also has a promotion on his CV with Doncaster Rovers, but that was from League Two to League One, with the 57-year-old well-versed in all the divisions the EFL makes up.
Hiring Ferguson could also be key in Leicester tempting Archie Collins to the King Power, as a Peterborough invasion potentially occurs.
Why signing Collins would be a good first signing
Reports suggest that the Taunton-born midfield anchor could be one of Leicester's first forays into the bumper summer transfer market.
Bringing in Ferguson would surely tempt Collins even more to join the King Power ranks ahead of next season, as he would pick up seven goals and eight assists across 124 games at Posh, with Fergie on the sidelines.
With 174 career appearances in League One under his belt, too, having previously called Exeter City home, this has all the makings of being an effective, if slightly unflashy signing that helps the Foxes instantly acclimatise to their fresh surroundings.

He would also be joining on a free transfer, but that has alerted the likes of Lincoln City to his services, according to reports, who are amazingly in the second tier next season, above the Foxes, despite being situated in the National League when Claudio Ranieri lifted the Premier League title.
Now, Leicester look as if they'll be appointing an EFL journeyman as their next manager, with a free transfer acquisition sticking out.
It's crazy how fast time flies in the beautiful game, but Leicester could do a lot worse than go down this tried and tested route, if it immediately lifts them out of the awkward pit of League One.
