At the weekend, Leicester City managed to travel to the counrty of Wales (it's not been recognised as a 'principality' since 2011, as far as stated online, for anyone who's interested and as boring as me) for a much-needed three points. Following four Championship draws, City reverted to being victorious. And, even in the early month of October in the schedule, it was imperative that LCFC did return to winning ways.
Certain aspects made Leicester boss Marti Cifuentes happy during the game. On the contrary, one or two elements from the East Midlanders' trip to Swansea.com Stadium displeased the once Queens Park Rangers head coach. Although, it appears that the management team holding it together when the Swans equalised, and not panicking, aided the side's push for an important away win.
Following the tier two contest, Cifuentes spoke to various media outlets and interviewers about his feelings on the clash. Positives and negatives transpired from the Catalan gaffer. In addition to that, insight on the Foxes team emegered. Please allow me to detail events and comments, along with explaining.
Elements from Leicester City's Swansea City win that pleased manager Marti Cifuentes
Jordan James, Abdul Fatawu and Jannik Vestergaard did the damage versus Swansea as City triumphed. Another Fox caught Cifuentes' attention once again: Jeremy Monga.
The boss says he's pleased with the young winger. Adding that Monga's skill set is undeniable. However, Cifuentes wishes for the 16-year-old to continue improving his decision-making.
"Players took on board 'arrogance' criticism from midweek?Marti Cifuentes, via Leicester Mercury
MC: “Rebuilding, as I’ve been describing this process as a club, it always takes some time but I know that there are some key elements on this that are very clear to me.
“First of all, the identity and how we want to play, there is still a lot of room to improve, but there is a path."
Furthermore, the 43-year-old praised goalscorers Fatawu and James. As a matter of fact, Cifuentes thought his men could've added more goals. The boss mentioned the rebuilding process which he believes is working.
"We spoke about the need to chase goals. It doesn’t matter if you’re performing well, it doesn’t matter if you’re in control, you always need to try to score.Cifuentes
“That’s exactly what the team did. After the penalty the reaction showed a lot of mental strength. I think we were very strong in the last 20 minutes of the game."
An identity is emegering, he claims. With the 'Foxes Never Quit' and 'Fearless Foxes' phrases prevalent in Cifuentes' thinking. He admitted that he is content with three points from a 'good team' which is hard to beat.
