Last week, Leicester City released many players who they considered unappealing to hold onto for next season back in the Championship. There was also an exit for club legend Jamie Vardy. The former England man will seek a new side and a fresh challenge for the upcoming campaign. And the 38-year-old's plethora of destination choices are particularly prevalent in the media
Evidently most of the Blue Army fan base, if not all of LCFC's fans, will be hoping that Vards decides not to join an outfit that compete in the English second division. It would be strange and arguably legacy-challenging for Vardy to technically be actively competing against the Foxes' future prosperity. Yet the irrepressible striker is certainly 'his own man' and will do whatever he wants to. And we kind of love him for that persona trait!
However, one of the recent departures from Leicester has already joined a Championship club. Daniel Iversen's Preston North End will face the East Midlanders in 2025/26. The fact that Preston will likely be at the lower end of the table probably means Iversen will avoid LCFC scrutiny or the possible wrath of their support.
Interestingly, a second and separate City leaver is said to be considering a tier two transfer as well. Once Liverpool stopper Danny Ward apparently has admiration from an obvious source. Although, the Welshman's ostensible new team will no doubt be at odds with the Foxes in pursuit of automatic or Playoff promotion.
Former Leicester City goalkeeper's potential new team would be at odds with Foxes
"For his part, it is suggested the shot-stopper “could leap at” the opportunity to return to his homeland. Ward came up through the ranks at Wrexham before he joined Liverpool in 2012."
According to the latest report, Ward will not be without a home for long. Word is newly promoted Wrexham could sign the Wales international.
Ward previously played for the Red Dragons in his younger goalie days. They played in Football League One last term.
