A former rival of Leicester City, who was once coveted by the east Midlanders, has been speaking about the team. Specifically, the ex-Watford striker spoke of a trio of Foxes stars on the side's periphery who may be important for new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy going forward. Possibly surprisingly to the Blue Army, Troy Deeney passed positive verdicts on the footballers in question. So, which three potentially vital LCFC players was the controversial pundit referring to? What did he say? And did Deeney have a point on this occasion?

Meanwhile City have supposedly avoided a harmful red card which could have threatened to derail van Nistelrooy's early progress. Not to mention the action possibly harming Chelsea and England superstar Cole Palmer. I am, of course, talking of Wilfred Ndidi's foul from a few games ago. The more you see and hear about the incident from experts and fans, the more it feels as though the Nigeria international got away with one.

Now chief refereeing officer at PGMOL, Howard Webb, has offered an arguably telling opinion on referee on the day Andrew Madley's decision. In addition, Webb also had words for Madley's Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Paul Tierney. But what did the one-time leading Premier League adjudicator say exactly? And is he right about the situation?

Howard Webb on Wilfred Ndidi's Cole Palmer challenge

Basically, Webb believes Ndidi should have been dismissed. The 53-year-old points out that the tackle was from behind. He also noted that impact was on the vulnerable achilles area.

Former Blues star Joe Cole agreed with Webb. As a Leicester supporter, I was naturally pleased that Ndidi managed to remain on the pitch. But I have to admit that I concur with the above assessment.

Troy Deeney proposes more game time for these Leicester City men

First of all, Deeney was as tough a competitor as they come. He was more skilled than many gave him credit for as well.

Let's not discuss the infamous Championship Play-Offs Semi-Final from 2013! But we should listen to what Deeney has to say concerning LCFC team selections:

"I think Oliver Skipp came and gave a bit more tenacity in midfield, Bobby [De Cordova-Reid], we know what he's about anyway. And [Stephy] Mavididi – a player I really like, I think he should get a bit more game time because he's just more direct."
