Gary Rowett will be scratching his head about what to do when it comes to his Leicester City starting XIs, as several first-teamers severely underperformed against Sheffield Wednesday.

Leicester just weren't at their best in front of goal whatsoever, as the Foxes had to settle for 1-1 draw, which isn't helpful one bit to their survival charge, as wins are what is desperately needed.

The relegation-worried manager could decide to bring Jordan Ayew back into his starting lineups, after the experienced striker smashed home a crucial equaliser, with only eight minutes left to be played of normal time.

Moreover, the former Oxford United boss will surely be craving the return of Jordan James, after he shrugs off an injury sustained on international duty, as his stand-in in Divine Mukasa only managed one meagre shot, and two key passes, as an unconvincing number ten, at Hillsborough.

He will also want to find a space for Jannick Vestegaard in his upcoming lineups, as the towering Dane has just the grit he will be looking for, as his team are put through their paces in some tiring relegation battles to come.

Why Rowett will want to start Vestergaard

Averaging a valiant 5.9 duels won this season, the dominant 33-year-old won't want the ship to sink depressingly down to League One.

Instead, he will want to be at the forefront of a brave battle, and he shone in this regard, during the latter stages of the 1-1 draw in South Yorkshire.

Coming on for just 21 minutes of action, Vestergaard would win four aerial duels with ease, while also chipping in with one key pass, as Leicester desperately attempted to break an unusually stern Wednesday backline.

Rowett could have a tough time reintroducing the veteran defender into his own back four, though, as both Jamaal Lascelles and Caleb Okoli have battled well across recent taxing matches, as well.

Indeed, the pair won eight duels together at Hillsborough before the ex-Newcastle United man was replaced by the strong number 23.

He could throw Vestergaard into the deep-end in a different position on the pitch, to try and accommodate to his strengths, as the dice needs to be rolled in a daring way, to attempt to secure survival.

The shock position Vestegaard could play at

While Ayew would send the travelling Foxes masses into raptures with his wonderfully taken equaliser, he is far from being a reliable source of goals for Rowett and Co.

The ageing Ghanaian only has six Championship goals next to his name this season, and with Patson Daka equally as wasteful, the under pressure manager could tinker, and throw Vestergaard into games as an unlikely centre-forward figure.

Noted as being "very techincally good" when a chance comes his way in front of goal, by Rowett, the 6-foot-6 titan being unleashed up front might well prove to be a masterstroke of a decision.

After all, it would seriously confuse defenders in the latter stages of matches, if Vestergaard strolled into the side to take up an unorthodox striker position.

With three goals powered home this season in the Championship, too, despite injury difficulties, this has all the makings of being an ingenious ploy utilised by Rowett, in the dying stages of matches.

If he can't break back into the starting XI in the centre-back spots, Vestergaard would surely settle for this unique role, as Leicester throws everything at the wall now to see what sticks.
